I have built my professional life centred around two pillars. Firstly, together with my father, I founded my own company in the telecommunications area, while I was still in my teens, nurtured & developed it, and then sold it off. This experience allowed me to experience first hand the life of an entrepreneur and marked me for the years to come as from then onwards I always acted in a professional context like I was working for my own company. Secondly, I have spent over 20 years in the petrochemicals industry, living in three countries but working across most geographies and cultures. My main functional focus was in the area of sales, marketing, strategy and the implementation of change. Through the many roles I had I had the opportunity to work with or in various verticals, e.g. automotive, material science, medical, power, road transport, electrical & electronics. All of this has helped me to become a passionate generalist who enjoys linking the dots & manage businesses holistically, and in a sustainable way for growth. All that, while making sure that I get the best out of everyone working for or with me.

Why would you like to join the HBLF International X Mentor Programme?

After the ups & downs of 7 years of founding & leading my own company and more than 20 years of working in a multinational setting I feel I have learned things and went through unique experiences that I would like to share with others, in the hope that it helps them be more successful. I personally benefitted immensely from mentoring & coaching in a professional context and feel the time is right to try and give something back. I also genuinely enjoy being together with & around talented and ambitious individuals, and if I see that I can make even a small  difference in someone`s career via mentoring, it gives me a lot of personal satisfaction.

Have you had a mentor or have you mentor before? What has it given to you? 

I mentored colleagues within the multinational companies I worked for as well as entrepreneurs on their start-up journeys. Mentoring helped me to ultimately become a better leader by understanding in more detail how others think, see organisational bottlenecks or business challenges that I have not spotted before and by forcing me to put myself into the shoes of others and propose constructive ideas on how to overcome hurdles.
