Szabó Péter

Peter Szabo is the former Managing Director of Microsoft Hungary, with the main responsibility to govern the local subsidiary and drive digital transformation for the company’s customers and business partners. Peter spent 7 years at Microsoft, first taking over the Customer and Devices Sales division for the Hungary-Czech-Slovakia sub-region and later, leading the development of Microsoft Hungary’s broad partner ecosystem while safeguarding compliant partner operations in Hungary.

Peter is member of the Board of Trustees of Unicef Hungary Foundation and he is devoting is time and effort to support the organization helping children and promoting children's rights globally and in Hungary.

Peter is also the Vice President of IVSZ (the main Industry Organization for the Digital Development of Hungary) and has worked with the organization over the past two years to support the growth and international competitiveness of the Hungarian economy.

Prior to joining Microsoft, Peter spent 17 years in the FMCG industry, working for Unilever. He is a true self-made man when it comes to career building. He started as a finance intern at Unilever during his college years and through an exciting and colorful career journey he became General Manager of Unilever Adriatics, assuming the role based in Zagreb, Croatia. His career steps consisted of a variety of finance, marketing, sales, general management, individual contributor, people manager, local and regional jobs as well.

In his own words: “I fully believe that the diversity of roles and experiences you gain through life will support your success in an exponential way. You need to have a dream and should not only work hard but also be able to ask for the right support and show to the world your achievements. Be curious to learn from others around you, learn from your successes but most importantly from your failures.”

Peter is married and has two kids.

He optimistically realistic and cheerful by nature and live by his values of integrity, curiosity, supporting and developing others and diverse team collaboration.

Have you had a mentor or have you mentor before? What has it given to you?

I have been mentoring both in HBLF Xmentor, Uniceo mentoring program and also Coaching management talents inside Microsoft. Besides sharing what I believe gives value I always learn a lot of new perspectives from my mentees.
