Baker McKenzie Budapest x HBLF Women´s Day Business Breakfast on the Corporate and Social Impacts of AI
It has become something of a tradition for us to jointly organize the HBLF Women's Day event, and this year's event was once again met with tremendous interest. Ákos Fehérváry, managing partner at Baker McKenzie Budapest, jokingly remarked in his welcome speech that we might have to find a bigger venue next year.
The series of welcome speeches was continued by Andrea Istenesné Solti, president of HBLF. Andrea delivered a particularly strong message, drawing attention to the fact that Hungary continues to lag behind other EU countries in terms of gender equality. According to the latest EIGE data, we rank 26th out of the 27 EU member states.
The program opened with a brilliant introduction by Judit Kertész: starting with the spread of small household appliances, she led us through advertisements depicting hypermasculinity to the differences in AI usage habits between women and men. In the discussion that followed the introduction, Judit's partner was Anna Juli Rosenfeld, an AI social expert, with whom she analyzed, based on recent research, how women and men access AI tools, what differences can be observed in usage patterns, and what hidden biases may be built into the technology.
In a panel discussion presenting corporate experiences, experts from various industries shared their insights on the practical application of AI, moderated by Csaba Vári (Baker McKenzie Budapest). Luca Karig (BeHive Consulting) highlighted the human and behavioral psychology aspects of AI implementation from an organizational development perspective, while Péter Lajtai shared PwC Hungary's experiences on how technology is transforming management decision-making and work processes. Magdolna Tokai added ALTEO's business and international perspective, with a particular emphasis on the relationship between sustainable operations and AI. The discussion thus provided a genuine, multi-perspective picture of how AI is transforming corporate operations and what practical dilemmas it brings with it.
The event was closed by Nóra Judit Kovács, multiple slam poetry champion. Her powerful slam, written especially for the occasion, was followed by thunderous applause.
