In 2013, HBLF launched the Hard Talk discussion series, held exclusively by invitation and conducted under the Chatham House Rule, without media presence. At this prestigious event, distinguished figures share their views on the economic situation in Hungary and worldwide. The absence of media fosters an open atmosphere for participants and business leaders.
Our invited guests have included H.E. Colleen Bell, U.S. Ambassador; H.M.A. Iain Lindsay, British Ambassador; H.E. Isabelle Poupart, Canadian Ambassador; Dr. László Palkovics, State Secretary for Higher Education; István Hiller, Member of Parliament; Dr. Ádám Balog, Deputy Governor of the Hungarian National Bank; György Nógrádi, security policy expert; Gábor Orbán, State Secretary for Tax and Financial Affairs; and Iryna Ivaschenko, former IMF Resident Representative in Hungary.
The Chatham House Rule is a principle that ensures the confidentiality of information shared during the meeting. It allows participants to express their views as individuals, which may not necessarily reflect the positions of their organizations. As a result, a freer and more open discussion becomes possible.
