The goal of the working group is to integrate sustainability considerations into business strategy. We believe that greening the economy—a green economy—contributes to business success and economic growth. It creates jobs, stimulates innovation, generates new investments, and, not least, improves the quality and health of life for present and future generations.
Our working group primarily focuses on raising awareness of environmental challenges, supporting environmental education, sharing best practices, and engaging stakeholders—all in alignment with HBLF’s mission and the principles of corporate social responsibility and sustainable development.
The HBLF ESG Working Group held three meetings in 2025. At the first meeting, we reviewed the year’s main challenges and potential supportive measures the HBLF could take. The second meeting focused on current ESG issues, while the third meeting centered on implementing sustainability in the supply chain, risk management, and supplier development.

2024
In 2024, the HBLF Sustainability Working Group placed two key topics on its agenda. Our summer online event explored the proposed provisions of the still-pending EU Green Claims Directive, which could fundamentally reshape corporate product communication practices. In the autumn, the focus shifted to domestic regulation: Csaba Gábor Molnár, ESG Director at the Supervisory Authority for Regulated Activities, presented the expected impacts of Hungary’s ESG law and its newly issued implementing decrees, along with insights into the supervisory aspects of ensuring compliance.
